This Tuesday, the community came together for a Salaam Institute event with Ramis Ansari — an evening centred around humour, perspective, and the conversations we do not always make space for.

Held at the Bryan Brown Theatre, the session brought together attendees from across the community for a night that was both engaging and reflective. Through storytelling, lived experiences, and moments of humour, Ramis explored themes of identity, pressure, culture, and self-awareness in a way that resonated deeply with those in the room.

What made the evening especially meaningful was not just the discussion itself, but the atmosphere it created. It was a reminder of the importance of creating spaces where people feel comfortable enough to reflect honestly, connect through shared experiences, and engage in conversations that often remain unspoken.

Throughout the evening, there were moments of laughter, moments of reflection, and many reminders that growth often begins with perspective. Whether discussing personal experiences, navigating expectations, or understanding the challenges that come with balancing identity and everyday life, the session encouraged attendees to think a little deeper — while still finding humour along the way.

Events like these continue to reflect what Salaam Institute aims to create within the community: spaces that bring people together through meaningful conversations, thoughtful dialogue, and shared learning.

We would like to thank everyone who attended and contributed to making the evening such a memorable one, as well as Ramis Ansari for sharing his time, insights, and experiences with openness and authenticity.

The evening left many with something simple but meaningful — the reminder that even through pressure, uncertainty, and life’s challenges, there is value in finding moments to laugh through it together.
